Your Voice Matters: Vote in the 2025 Municipal Election

Municipal elections are your opportunity to shape the future of your community. In Red Deer, the 2025 municipal election on October 20th will determine who makes decisions that affect local business, infrastructure, and community development for the next four years. Your vote is your voice, don’t miss the chance to make it heard!

To help you make informed choices, the Red Deer District Chamber, in partnership with the Red Deer Construction Association and BILD, is hosting a Municipal Candidates Forum on Monday, October 6th. This forum is an excellent opportunity to hear directly from candidates about their priorities, plans, and vision for Red Deer. Whether you’re a business owner, a resident, or both, attending the forum is a great way to get insights into the candidates’ approaches to economic growth, community development, and municipal governance.

Moderated questions will reflect priorities identified by local employers and align with Alberta’s Vote Prosperity pillars:

  • Business Competitiveness: Permitting timelines, regulatory clarity, and franchise fee predictability.
  • Growth & Housing: Targeted zoning/approvals reform to enable gentle density; serviced land and infrastructure sequencing.
  • Financial Stewardship & Core Services: Rebuilding reserves, bending the cost curve, and focusing on the Municipal Government Act core municipal mandate.
  • Construction & Local Jobs: Fair, transparent procurement; a stable municipal project pipeline; trades and workforce initiatives.
  • Public Safety: Practical measures that reduce costs and risk for businesses and residents.
As a business community, the Chamber encourages all members and residents to vote with prosperity in mind. The Alberta Chambers of Commerce has launched the Vote Prosperity: Priorities for the 2025 Municipal Election campaign, which highlights four key areas for strong, thriving communities:

  1. Strengthening Business Competitiveness – Ensuring local businesses can grow, innovate, and succeed.
  2. Growing Business Partnerships – Building collaboration between businesses, government, and community organizations.
  3. Building Healthy Communities – Investing in infrastructure, social services, and amenities that enhance quality of life.
  4. Improving Government Accountability – Transparent, responsible governance that listens to and acts on community needs.

The Red Deer District Chamber encourages voters to consider these priorities when casting their ballots. Your vote is a powerful tool to help build a prosperous, healthy, and accountable Red Deer for everyone.

Mark your calendars:
Make your voice count, your community, your vote, your future.
