Behind the Business - Red Deer Food Bank Society
What does it take to support thousands of individuals and families facing food insecurity in our community?
Join fellow Chamber members for a behind-the-scenes look at the Red Deer Food Bank, an organization that has been serving Central Alberta for over 40 years through food support, community programs, and innovative solutions to hunger.
Located in the heart of Red Deer, the Food Bank continues to evolve to meet growing demand. In addition to providing emergency food and access to fresh produce, the organization is leading the way in social enterprise, using business models to create sustainable solutions to food insecurity.
Through initiatives like Kitchen 49 and Garden 49, the Food Bank is producing fresh, local food, offering education and skill development, and operating social enterprises such as food production, mobile food services, and catering. These ventures not only generate revenue to support core programs but also create opportunities for community connection, training, and long-term impact.
During this exclusive member experience, you’ll:
- Tour the Food Bank facility and operations
- See how food is sorted and distributed to the community
- Learn how social enterprise models are being used to address food insecurity in new and innovative ways
- Gain insight into the growing need in our region and how the Food Bank is responding
