City of Red Deer Hosted Open House: Exploring a New Way to Manage Red Deer’s Electric Utility
The City of Red Deer is exploring a new way to govern our Electric Utility—one that could offer more flexibility, innovation, and long-term sustainability for our community and businesses.
City Council has directed The City to explore creating a Municipally Controlled Corporation (MCC)—a company fully owned by The City that would manage the delivery of electricity in Red Deer. This model maintains public ownership but allows for a more business-like approach to operations, better supporting growth, reliability and sustainability.
Before City Council makes a decision, a Public Hearing will be held on June 23, 2025. In advance of that, we’re inviting Red Deer’s business community to learn more and share feedback.
Join us for a business-focused open house.
This is your chance to:
- Learn more about the MCC model
- Ask questions
- Discover how to contribute to the Public Hearing process
As a valued business leader, your insight is important. We hope you’ll join us in shaping the future of Red Deer’s Electric Utility.
